What We Cover

TVIs are among the hardest roles a district fills. We staff them on contract for the school year or semester, onsite or remote, so blind and low-vision students keep their services.

  • Functional vision and learning media assessments
  • Braille reading and writing instruction
  • Assistive technology: screen readers, magnification, braille devices
  • Accessible materials and consultation with teachers
  • State certificate with a visual impairment endorsement checked before a candidate is sent

Common Questions

What Districts Ask Us

What does a TVI do that a special education teacher doesn't?
TVIs assess how a student uses vision, teach braille and assistive technology, and teach the skills in the expanded core curriculum that sighted students learn incidentally.
Can a TVI serve students remotely?
For many students, partly. Braille, technology and consultation can be taught by video with materials sent ahead; assessments usually happen in person. See our remote TVI page.
How fast can you send candidates?
We send a blinded shortlist of screened candidates within 48 to 72 hours of your request — credentials checked and your screening questions answered.
How does contract staffing work?
Your clinician or teacher works on MedPoint's payroll for the school year, the semester or a set number of weeks. We handle weekly payroll, taxes and workers' comp, and you get one invoice at the agreed rate. If you want to keep them, contract-to-hire and direct hire are available.
What does a blinded candidate mean?
A blinded profile shows a candidate's credentials, experience and location — but no name, employer or school. When you ask for the introduction, we set it up.
